Why did MBLAQ’s Mir break-up with a girlfriend through text message?
As you may know, breaking up with your boyfriend or girlfriend via text message is probably one of the worst ways to break up, especially when you’re on the receiving end of the break up. MBLAQ’s Mir did just exactly that, but it’s not for the reason you’re thinking of.
On the recent episode of Idol Preview, Mir recounted the reason behind the break-up of one of his past relationships. He had been dating his girlfriend for a while during his trainee days, but the relationship stagnated and Mir became distant to her. Wanting to break up with her, he told her outright when she met up with him at a park near his recording studio.
Not expecting this news out of the blue, his girlfriend asked to slap him across the face, but Mir panicked and reluctantly agreed to delay the inevitable. “After she said that, all I saw were her hands. I grew weak.” However, once Mir got back to the safety of his rehearsal studio, he texted his girlfriend and was able to break-up that way without getting a slap across the face.
Years later, Mir has matured to the point where he apologized to his ex-girlfriend via video and said, “Hey friend. Thanks for not hitting me that day. I’m less afraid now, so I hope you can slap me once if I ever see you on the streets.”
I wonder if his ex-girlfriend, after seeing this video message, will actually hunt him down and slap him across the face. Though, Mir, since you were a teenager back then (and quite a few teenagers tend to do stuff like that), it’s understandable. Don’t do it when you’re older, Mir, because then it’s terrible.
