BEAST’s Kikwang feels apologetic

BEAST’s Kikwang recently tweeted an apology towards Seo Taji from his mistake. On the new episode of KBS’s ‘Win Win‘, Kikwang asked a question to Shin Hae Chul regarding Seo Taji. Because Seo Taji and Shin Hae Chul’s relationship is distant cousins, Kikwang asked, “Truthfully aside from anything else I want to know the current situation of that person: Seo-ssi.” To which Shin Hae Chul responded, “I don’t know.” Netizen angrily pointed out that Seo Taji has been in the music industry for a very long time and is much older than Kikwang. In Korean culture, it is disrespectful for a younger junior to call his senior “ssi”. He should have addressed him as “Seo-sunbaenim” or “teacher Seo” instead of “Seo-ssi”. The netizens commented on ‘Win Win’ page, “[Seo Taiji] is much older and has more work experience, he’s a great sunbae. Where did he learn such things calling him that?“, “When a young person adds the word ‘Shi’ to call an older person’s name, it’s simply unacceptable“, “Please look up when to properly use ‘Shi.” Ki Kwang then tweeted, “I want to sincerely apologize. I’m sorry.” I’m sure he didn’t intend to be rude. It probably slipped out of his mouth wrongly. Hopefully this will not happen anymore.
