KBS Uses Same Old Excuse To Ban JYJ From Music Bank

The first time KBS stated JYJ couldn’t perform on Music Bank, it was because they were in the middle of a lawsuit and weren’t sure how that would affect the outcome of said lawsuit, as well as how the show would be seen in terms of reputation. Even though everyone knew it was a bit unfair, it IS a fairly good reason. And at the time, TVXQ consisting of Yunho and Changmin weren’t performing on the show yet either. KBS stated that when the time came that JYJ released a full album, they’d be allowed on the show. OK, cool, let’s wait for that. Then they decided not to allow ONE song (Pierrot) not for use of swearing or slang terms, not for any sexual innuendo that may appear, but for what they assumed ‘P.S.M.‘ (which stands for Performer, Success, Museum) stood for, without asking the creator of said song. Yeah that wasn’t exactly fair, but we are dealing with it in a timely manner, and happy that the other songs that weren’t banned (Mission was banned for profanity). Even a governer got involved! But we were thinking it’s ok, it’s still wonderful, they have plenty of other songs they can perform on Music Bank! Except…they STILL haven’t performed. And now, KBS has stated the reason being the same as the original reason. Um, what? Yeah a fan sent in an inquiry to the Korea Communications Commision, who in turn asked KBS about the issue. The KCC is like the US’s FCC, and when they recieved a response they then forwarded it to the fan. It was then translated and posted for everyone who wanted to know anything about it. This is what was said. Hello. We are the Korea Communications Commission. We thank you for the interest and participation for the healthy development of broadcast communications. As for the items that you have informed us we have requested the broadcast station in question to cooperate to confirm (the facts) and to take appropriate measures. We forward you the reply from the broadcast station as follows. —————- The original position of the Music Bank production team with regards to JYJ was that “because TV appearances and such by an entertainer who is in the middle of a lawsuit may affect the outcome of the lawsuit, we will examine whether the entertainer may appear or not while keeping tabs on the development of the situation.” Currently, apart from the result of the petition for injunctive relief, there are many main suits for instance on the validity of the exclusive contract and damages. There is no change to our position that fundamentally we will postpone the appearance of the entertainer who is in the middle of the lawsuit regardless of the result of the petition for injunctive relief and that we will monitor the situation until the results are finalized. Well isn’t that just ducky? The court still has yet to make a final decision and even though there are still things changing, like JYJ’s new album and the petition for injuction relief…KBS won’t do anything. It’s the exact same. OK you know what, if they want to pull that, why not ban TVXQ from Music Bank too? They are still part of the lawsuit, even if they are still under SM Entertainment. Or I mean…any of the bands and groups under SME, since SME itself is part of the lawsuit. It’s a bit much to single out only one person/group. It just goes to show what power SME seems to really have. I don’t want ANYone banned. Everyone should have a right to perform, don’t you think? What does everyone think about this? Does any group deserve to be banned?
